One of the website pages says: "This means, that you can use and adapt the files, as long as you contribute to the copyright holder." Can you define "contribute?" Can alteration be considered a "contribution?"

Lieber Bernd,

Beautiful work! I was looking at your Mozart transcriptions and am amazed at the work you put into them. Just converting from music notation to MIDI notation is hard enough. But different velocities, different beats/minute, and all to make the best, and the most real sounding, Sonatas! Since you say you don't take requests, I'm tempted to copy your methods with other Mozart Sonatas, using my PianoRollComposer, but I'm not sure I'd be able to do nearly as well as you.

My Dear Bernd,
I hope you've had a beautiful White Chrismas...I'm imagining Germany at Christmas time. It must be gorgeous! I spent one Christmas in Oregon with my brother and it snowed...being from California was a treat for me, however, I wouldn't like a steady diet of "snow!"

I hope all is well with you Bernd. As I speak I'm downloading the wonderful Schumann

I've just noticed that my daughter, Cheryl, has written you!!!!! She hasn't mentioned that to me whatsoever!! However, she failed to tell you that I did get my GED, and passed in two days! I'm still amazed that she actually wrote to you. She's a beautiful child as are all my children, so respectful to me.

I suppose this writing hasn't included a private response...what must your readers think? OH Me!

Wishing you a Happy and Prosperous New Year Bernd. Thank you again for your beautiful renditions of the Masters! I can't wait to see and hear your next. Thank you for sharing with me!!

Sincere warm regards Bernd,
Gayle

Dear Bernd,

I never saw a response to my mother - omg - my mother is such a talented gifted person. With 5 children, my mother learned how to play the piano - I can remember us all stirring up trouble in our rooms - 3 boys in one room and 2 girls in the other room - while our little mommy was trying to practice her lessons from Mrs. Gray - we would hear bang bang bang on the piano, hear her stomping - hallway door thrown open and we blamed Allan for all of the noise since he was the oldest lol - ahh such great memories - my mother taught us all about Bach, Beethoven, Handel and all of the other greats - my mom quit school in 9th grade to help support her family ... we never knew until we were grown. On Thanksgiving and Christmas - Mom played all of the italian songs on the accordion - then played the piano while my grandpa and Uncle Jim and Uncle Bill sang to them - how she learned these songs so quickly is amazing to me - then she played the classical songs - our favorite is Mozart - the S guy (can you believe I cannot remember his name ...Schultz - no, not Charlie Brown - the composer that starts with an S) - blues, oldies, top 40 - I don't know Debussy - but I bet Mom could rock him out :)

Well enough of my babble - my mother is wonderful and loves the classical music - she is amazing and so is Mozart - Moonlight Sonata which all of us kids would not love without her :)

Dear Bernd,
Please forgive my slow response to your e-mails featuring Debussy. It's been such a busy month for me. But I'm caught up in my domestic duties and downloading the wonderful Debussy series. Thank you Bernd for your patience with me. Are you ready for the holidays? I've been working on gifts, baking and cooking for my family. It seems to be growing bigger year by year. Oh Me!! However, I do love the hustle and bustle of the holidays.

Do have a wonderful holdiay Bernd. Thank you again for thinking of me and introducing me to Debussy.....I wasn't particularly fond of his music, however, have enjoyed the series you've sent.

My Dear Bernd,

Things are back to normal at this writing. My daughter has steady employment and has found her own apartment. I now can concentrate on updating your beautiful classics and fortunately they're on MP3's. Thank you Bernd.

I've been downloading like crazy this evening, however, I guess I've overdone it because the downloading stopped for 24 hours it said. I'll just do a few at a time. I have so much catching up to do.

I hope you're ready for Christmas. I'm not, we haven't even put a tree up yet, but, we will. My neighbors have lovely outside lights, but as of every year, we've only had outside lights once, because my husband just cannot climb ladders any longer...I prefer he didn't try!

Thank you Bernd for again sharing your music. I have bought an external hard drive and have "gobs" of room for my music.

Happy Holidays Bernd!

Warm regards,
Gayle

Hi Bernd,
Great work that you are putting into transcribing these classic pieces to MIDI files. For me ,who is deeply involved with music for a long time but never was able to read music properly, it is very exciting to "see" the partition being played in real-time by my virtual piano. I can understand much better what is happening. (How vital subtle variations in tempo are...!). It sound great on "TruePianos", maybe even better on "Pianoteq". I would be curious to know which "Pianoteq" features you are using... Keep the good work!

Dear Bernd,

Please excuse my untimely responce to thanking you yet again for sharing your music with us. My daughter and her son finally secured an apartment, so we've been in the moving process this past month. Moving is such a horrendous chore, I've been totally exhausted! However, I "think" Bill and I are back to some normalcy so I can get back to answering my e-mails in a timely manner. I haven't had a chance to listen to your latest entry of Schubert, but will, as I need to "surf" your site as to what I've missed.
Thank you Bernd.

Warm Regards,

Dear Bernd,

Thank you for Beethoven's Sonata No. 11 Bb Major, Opus 22, 4th movement. That completes this lovely sonata in my library.

How are you? I hope all is well with you. I'm happy to report that my daughter was hired as a temp for a Diagnost Research Lab, "Novartis" in Emeryville, Ca. We're hopeful that she will be worked in their budget and become fully employed. Believe me, I love my children, however, it's difficult to have them live with one when they've become adults....epecially set in their ways. I think she's just as anxious to be on her own once again, we're all "keeping the faith!"

I understand that you will be using a different technique in your presentations of the masters....will look forward to see if there's that much difference in sound.

Thank you again and again for sharing the music Bernd.

Take care of yourself,

Warm regards,
Gayle

I hope all is well with you. I understand that Germany has had a harsh winter, but hopefully, Spring has arrived and all's well. We're experiencing some sunshine here, (California) finally! We've had so much rain!

I've been downloading some of the music you've offered, since I have missed so many. My computer has been running quite well after most problems have been resolved.

Thank you again Bernd for sharing.

Warm regards,
Gayle

Dear Bernd,

What a wonderful Sonata....Now, that's my Beethoven at his best! Thank you Bernd for sharing.

I want to wish you a very Happy Easter. I hope you will be spending it with your family. I am, and of course, the cook for my 5 children and grandchildren as is always on every holiday. I look at this way, what better things upon my retirement that I have to look forward to!
Family is everything to me, and I am happy to see all my children together on these occasions. I share the music that you send with my children. Some of course are not into the classics, but, I hope to at least let them know they exist!!

Again Bernd, thank you.

Warmest regards,
Gayle

Good Evening
Once again, thank you for your lovely rendition. It is great for a cheer-up on this side of the ocean. The East Coast of the USA has been riddled with Blizzards. It has been a harsh winter but, my area in NYC has fared quite well. Of course, we had the effects of the Blizzards but, the surronding areas were much worse. I did spend time playing my piano and the flute. We continue to be musically educated with your selections. Keep them up through the spring. The winter gets depressing.
Thanks again.

My Dear Bernd,

Thank you for the selections I've downloaded vehemetly this A.M. When I had to reformat I lost most of them. I certainly "smartened" up by buying an external hard drive to store all of my music. I'm so happy that you have offered this lovely music to your followers, and needless to say, for absolutely free! How lucky we are.

I hope all is well with you Bernd. The last time I wrote you regarding my "houseguests" (my daughter and her son) are on the road to recovery....my daughter is now working at a Temp job, and her son, has moved in with a friend. So, it will take some time for her to get back on her feet so to speak, but the outcome looks promising.
We are happy to help no matter how long. In fact, she can stay with us "forever!" A mother's love is powerful!

Well Bernd, again, thank you for sharing your music, I so look forward to your upcoming selections.

My Best regards,
Gayle

Dear Bernd,

I hope all is well with you...Happy New Year!

Thank you for sharing Brahms C major Sonata in its entirety....unfortunately, Master Brahms was in a "dark mood" when composing the Andante...the scherzo wasn't as playful as I would like to hear. I would love to hear more of his Rhapsodies, especially the Gminor....it's so beautiful. Thank you for sharing Bernd.

I have been entertaining two houseguests for the past month. My daughter and her son were both layed-off from their jobs, so now, back with the "mommy"....however, their job search has been positive, hopefully they will persevere in their job hunt....We are "keeping the faith!"

Again, thank you for sharing as it's so exciting to receive your next quest of the Masters!

Warm Regards,
Gayle

Greetings of 2010
A poem from my "Holiday Poets Circle" - founded last November.
Enjoy and share.
The best to you in the New Year. This selection was most playful and reminded me just a tad of the Golliwog's Walk.

ON TO THE YEAR THAT FOLLOWS

This Christmastide has bloomed like verdant spring
With the newness of dawn for which anxiety waits,
The year before which grew and penetrates,
Though some less salient in the wakening.
Nevertheless, their fulfillment was set to bring
A conglomerate of sorrows and of joys stayed
To prove the heavenly graces were perfectly made,
To strengthen and sustain by the proper toiling.
On to the year, that follows the gratefulness passed,
In hope of assuredly this luxury will pervade
That all the years that follow prosperity will last.
The ringing of the chimes of time is stayed.
Shout and clang your symbols seeking your life
A symphony sounds on earth eliminating all strife.

In fact, I don't have any of Brahms piano sonata' in my library. I'm listening to this lovely sonata as I write this. It's a shame that I've neglected to add his piano sonata'. In the meantime, I'll await the 2nd movement to complete this beautiful sonata.

Greetings
Thank you for the Brahms. I am not familiar with this Sonata, and I am glad to see you will be putting on the rest of the movements. I have an album of Brahms and must get back to looking over the Waltzes. He is full of chords, which are a bit too strenuous for these little hands. My retirement gets closer and closer, only to the end of this month.
I so look forward to each monthly selection.
It is so important to sign your guest book and to leave comments. I am starting a "Holiday Poets Circle" with a small amount of local poets, but the first mailing this past weekend was relatively quite successful, as I got pleasant and encouraging comments from people who do not write poetry.
Keep up your good work.

Dear Sir,

Thank you so much for such a great collection. Although I have listened to some classical and like some of Mozart's piano pieces, I never realised that so many composers have written for piano. Have already downloaded Mozart and Beethoven files.

I read your About page and understood the great pains you have taken to enter into MIDI [I myself have no idea of MIDI at all].

Your site is a boon for music lovers that want to get to know Western Classical.

Good Morning
Thanks for the amusing Haydn. With the commencement of Autumn under way. along with my retirement plans I feel a bit rejuvenated. A new phase in my life is coming, and I am anxious for the rough edges to disappear. Hopefully the transition will allow more time for me to get to the piano. The days move slowly and I am delighted with that, allowing myself to gradually accommodate the change.
I hope you will continue with your monthly renderings. They enliven the musical sensitivities and give us semi-musicians something to look forward to. It is great to be musically connected when words and thoughts fail.
God Bless, Keep up your good work.

Just a short note to let you know that this "computer of mine, which is an XPS 710, overheated and melted parts of my motherboard...can you believe that!!? I think that Dell had sent me a Beta model, and used me as their "scapegoat!" Well, after reformatting twice and now this, is unbelievable. You know, this computer of mine is so far advanced, in that, I could possibly take over a "small country!!" Just kidding Bernd....it's been so frustrating for me. Thank you for the lovely adagio of Haydn's....I was finally able to reply to your e-mail today, due to TWO on-site Dell Technicians that replaced the motherboard, memory and video cards! Hi
That was very appealing. Thank you. I have applied to retire soon. Perhaps I can get to more practice then.
The music store I used to depend on is not out of business. That is such a shame. People are more dependent on the internet for locating music. The problem there is that you cannot sufficiently browse the manuscript before purchasing it. The life of a New Yorker I guess.
I have an encyclopedia of piano manuscripts, perhaps it is in there. I'll have more time when I retire close to the end of the year.
Thank you. That was lovely.
The best to you as usual.

Thank you for this months's selection. I have certainly heard this before and many times. Very nice job. Music is always a pleasant sound that relieves problems. But, it was fun and you can make believe it sounds better than it does. Chords issuing from your own energy always sounds better than it is. It is raining here. Brightens the day. My goodness, that was an unusual sound for Beethoven. it reminded me of Bach, but then came to a very chordy/fortissimo part and it reflected Beethoven with Bach mixed in!!! I do not think I will attempt to play this one. It is rather for listening and appreciating. Thank you so much.

Lieber Bernd,

I have discovered some beautiful pieces in your collection, listening to them played on my Yamaha DGX-620 digital piano.

Using your file to hear what it's supposed to sound like, I have been (slowly) learning Mozart's Sonata IX.

I was also inspired to buy the sheet music for Schumann's "Scenes from Childhood" after hearing your recordings - and I'm currently trying to learn them too.

Thanks a lot, keep up the good work!

Cheers,
Ross

Hi Bernd
It is our Labor Day holiday here in the USA. Thank you for your work. I think this them has been used in a small novelty teaching piece "Moment Musicaux" - I have taught something like this to students in various simplified forms. It is delightful and I have heard it played on other instruments. The best to you.

God Bless you

Thank you. I've heard that one many times. Beautiful. I have decided to work on some short novelty pieces in case I ever get to play a little recital at nursing homes when I retire. I went on a vacation with a group and there was the oppotunity to "show off" and so I did. I played the Gried Notturno for about 30 people; however, from the music. It restored my confidence. Keep up your wonderful selections.

My Dear Mr. Krueger,
Please don't think me ungrateful for not thanking you for keeping me on your mailing list, but,for the past few months, I've had a terrible accident that has kept me confined to my bedroom. However, now that I'm on the mend, I wanted to thank you for the latest download of Franz Schubert which is marvelous. Happy June Day
Congratulations for being selected for Media of the day.. Moonlight Sonota. Very good!
Your Schumbert Impomptu was beautiful as usual.
I have a friend who has turned my very old practice tapes from about l970, which were poor quality and very distorted in sound, into CD They are only slightly improved, but I am so happy, as the can now be preserved, and I shall never play like this again, evenough they are not good.
Keep sending your selections. Have a nice summer.

Bernd,

I really can appreciate what you have done and are doing.

Even though I've played keyboard for many years (I'm 71),
I began with MIDI in the mid-80's with my Roland S-10
sampler. I step-recorded the "Flight of the Bumble Bee"
and other MIDI files and thats the reason for my above
statement.

I downloaded your chpn_op23.mid just to get a feel for
your "MIDI Tweaking" and I can hear and see what you've
done.

Here is something I thought you may like to know.

I use East West's Platinum Symphony Orchestra & Sonar 5
Power Studio.

I loaded some selected string articulations into your
piano MIDI files & tweaked them to match the
articulations to your various MIDI parameters.

The samples provided the good basic string sound & your
extensive MIDI tweaking provided the "live" element to
the performance.

I'm not a trained Classical musician but I have a good
ear and the MIDI files sounded very good to me.

If you would like a .wav or mp3 file let me know & I'll
provide it to you. It's no where near a finished product
but will let you hear how your prior efforts can be
leveraged with little time & effort.

Again, thanks for your willingness to share your work.

Thank you for the very exciting "wild hunt" etude. Last year I played "Unstern" (Evil Star) by Liszt for Halloween. I don't know if you have Halloween as a holiday in Germany. It falls on Oct. 31st. This was a most interesting piece, rendered so well. A bit too difficult for me, I dare say. Halloween is a "fun" time for kids. They dress up in wierd costumes but some are pretty constumes. Then they go around knocking on doors saying "Trick O Treat" You can give them a bit of candy. Also a Christian Catholic Holy Day, where one prays to the Saints. Perhaps you know all of this. Keep up your wonderful selections. I love Liszt. Thanks again.

I listened to all, The Schumann No. 7 and the No. 3 Impromptu - Schubert, simply took my breath away. I studied the "Butterfly" - Grieg, as I imagine many did during their course of study. Delightful. How many rednitions of a butterly are there? I came across a duet in Vivaldi for piano/flute and in my Celtic flute book another "Butterfly" and heard a wonder duet by Chinese master for Piano and Flute entitled "Butterfly Lovers." The artists were wonderful. I am wondering if the No. 1 Schubertis difficult, as it is charming. A wonderful selection. I didn't get around to hearing them until now as I was on vacation for a few days. Keep up your good work, your audience loves it all, believe me. We are also educated in more and more piano literature through your efforts. Thank you. God Bless, as ever........ I remain one of your faithful listeners.

Hi Bernd...:)

about the midi and mp3 files, let me say my opinion:
- mp3 is wonderful, as you are able, on any computer, to hear exactly what you played
- midi file is also great, because it contains the score and allows to play-back your music on a digital piano (giving a particular charm to the hearing)

So thank you for both music files you make available to us on your beautiful site!

Very nice work ;-).

For the MIDI part, I have thought about such a thing also, but, as you say, it is really a lot of work, and I prefer not to give my whole time to it.

How can you say you are a layman in terms of music? That's a joke, right ;-)?

In the morning, when I prepare for coffee, I often listen to classical music, including your's. And I listen to very famous popular musicians, much more popular than you are. But I must say that I like your interpretations/play most; I think that is because you don't tend to "overinterprete" compositions, but rather leave them as they were written originally (in notes).

Don't get me wrong, I think (of course) you also interprete the compositions, but for my taste in a very cool and direct approach. I simply like it.

So thank you for sharing your impression of music. And always remember: when I want to listen to, say Chopin - YOU are my first reference.

When I start my computer I always choose this site to listen music during my work. It's because I like classical piano-music very much. And on your site it's played well!

My Dear Mr. Krueger,

As I've been reviewing the wonderful masterworks of your collections that you have shared with me, I've often wondered why you're not on the "Concert Stage?" You have portrayed the "Masters'" beautifully!

Thank you for sharing yet another Liszt masterpiece.

I look forward to many more, perhaps a Hungarian Rhapsody? They're so wonderful. Thank you for the MP3 formats also.

Warm Regards,
Gayle

My goodness, that was a very rapid tempo. Marvelous. I was overwhelmed with it. A terrific rendition. Thank you so much. I was not familiar with that work at all.

Hi Bernd,

Thanks for the wonderful midi files. I play them on a Pianomation equipped unpright acoustic piano and they sound great. I'm new to midi's and don't know alot about music, but your files give me a great start in learning more.

Many many thanks!

Edmund

I really like your classic piano midi music. I use SynthFont to load Steinway 136mb soundfont to play back the midi files. The result is amazing. It is as if I am standing right beside the classic Grand Piano, that realistic feel. I can see how much painstaking work you have put in all the midi files. I am a computer software developer and have some basic understanding of midi format and the process to produce midi music. Thank you very much for making these master pieces available over the Internet.

Happy New Year to you and all the classic music lovers.

Yiwei

My Dear Mr.Krueger,

HAPPY NEW YEAR! Thank you for sharing the magnificence of this Etude of Liszt. I've neglected listening to his Etudes, but, after hearing this particular piece, I hopefully await a few more from you!

I again thank you for including me in your sharing of your music. So kind of you!

Have a wonderful New Year!

Warm regards,
Gayle Jurgensen
